Girl Jerry Does the Dead
Girl Jerry is a unique Grateful Dead Tribute band fronted by 3 girls who bring it night after night. The band features strong and seasoned touring musicians behind them, including guest artists often sitting in to keep it fresh and interesting. Girl Jerry is the only GD tribute band in the country fronted by a female lead guitar player, Joni Bottari.
Bottari got her first guitar at 9-years-old. When her brother brought home American Beauty and Workingmans Dead in 1970, that was it, she was hooked! She spent most of her time playing her guitar and following the Grateful Dead around the country, starting in 1975 attending a JGB "Legion of Mary" show at the Capitol Theater in Passaic NJ in 1975.
Joni hooked up with singer songwriter JD Danner and singer Judy Routley who had worked together for 7 years singing everything from bluegrass to blues. They got together one night in Joni's studio, and after messing around with some GD tunes, decided they had to form Girl Jerry.
